The Apopka Fire Department is the fire department for the city of Apopka, Florida. It has an ISO 1 classification.[1] The department responds to fires and natural disasters along with certain prevention efforts such as smoke alarm distribution and safety classes.
In June 2022, Austin Duran, a firefighter for the department died after a 4,500 pound sand trailer fell on him. Duran died two week later.[2][3] As a result, the department received significant amount of backlash[4][5] with calls for the fire chief, Sean Wylam and the mayor Bryan Nelson to resign.[6]
